Open Monument Days

Frans Hals' Children are coming home

Two recently acquired painitings Boy Playing the Violin and Singing Girl (1628) will be unveiled in Haarlem by the Mauritshuis and the Frans Hals Museum. Frans Hals is internationally celebrated for his portraits and genre scenes: lively depictions of everyday people in their daily lives. While the Frans Hals Museum holds the largest collection of his paintings in the world, it lacked genre works - until now. These two panels are especially remarkable, as the boy and girl may well be Hals' own son and daughter.

Museumnight Kids Haarlem

Museumnight Kids is the ultimate cultural night out for the whole family! On Saturday, October 4th, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, more than 15 museums and cultural hotspots across Haarlem will open their doors after hours. Especially curated for families with children aged 3 to 12, this evening offers a playful and inspiring way to experience Haarlem's cultural scene, with special activities, workshops, and performances throughout the night.
